Step-by-Step Guide

Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can create the lightened wrap hairstyle with color to give you that outstanding chic look. It is one of the best black hairstyles with medium length or long hair.

Preparation

Thoroughly shampoo your hair using a good shampoo and conditioner.

Blow-dry your hair to straighten it.

Creating the lightened wrap hairstyle / coloring your hair

Part your hair at the crown so it falls on either side.

This hairstyle is greatly defined by the inclusion of hair color at the bottom end so it appears like it has highlights. The partition at this point defines the direction your hair will fall.

Hold up the top half of your hair and tie it down.

The top half takes the color of your natural hair so it remains untouched. This exposes the bottom half that needs to be dyed.

Part the bottom half into sections.

The sections will take different hair color and it serves the purpose of evenly taking in the hair color as opposed to applying hair color to all the hair in one batch.

Apply hair color.

Start applying hair color a few inches from your scalp towards the ends.

Allow your hair to soak the color.

Allow your hair some time to soak in the hair color. This will takes some minutes. Ensure you wrap these sections to prevent staining your clothes.

Rinse off the color and dry.

Rinse off the hair color with warm water and dry.

Drop the top section of your hair and style.

Once the color is fast, you can drop the top section to allow it fall onto the rest of your hair exposing the different color highlights.

Complete the hairstyle by styling your hair. Make a cut along the crown at the center and allow your hair to fall on either side.
