Bio
Eugene W. “BO” Haynesworth
Eugene Washington Haynesworth, better known in the industry as “BO”, earned his barbering license in 1978 and his cosmetology license in 1987. He is licensed in Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina. Bo served in the U. S. Marine Corps for 8 years, was a truck driver for 2 years and a correctional officer for the District of Columbia Department of Corrections for 4 ½ years. In 1992, Mr. Haynesworth began his pursuit in the cosmetology industry full-time.
His father, uncles, brothers and cousin, all of who had barbering licenses, sparked Mr. Haynesworth’s initial interest in cosmetology. By the age of 14, Bo was able to cut an esquire, which is equivalent to a military fade. However, his career was put on hold for a while as he pursued other endeavors.
In 1993 he attended Dudley Cosmetology University, where he acquired his advanced training. Through hard work and perseverance, Bo became known for his understanding of the theory and structure of hair. By 1996, he was a Dudley Educator and Technician. In 1998, he became the first Market Development Representative for the company, teaching at such chain salons throughout the country as, J C Penney’s, Dillard’s, Fantastic Sam’s, etc. Bo’s hair designs, makeup artistry, barbering and articles have graced the pages of several hair care and design magazines and books, such as, Sophisticate’s Black Hair, Hype Hair, Dudley’s, Universal Salons and New Concepts Hair Goods just to name a few.
In 1999, Bo opened Turnin’ Headz Beauty Services Inc. In the same year he became Artistic Director for Product Knowledge for Dudley Products Inc. Then in 2001 he became the first International Educator for Dudley Leadership and Training Institute to help open a Dudley Beauty Center. In the later part 2002 He was hired as Salon Leader for the Hair Cuttery in Annandale, Virginia. In 2004 he was hired by the Regis Corporation to manage their salon in Fairfax, Virginia and he is currently the salon manager for J C Penney in Sterling, Virginia.
In October 2002, Bo was awarded 1st place in the world in Atlanta, Georgia in the 10th Annual Beauty Entrepreneurs Conference, Dreams and Fantasies Makeover Competition. Mr. Haynesworth was awarded the 2007 Customer Champions Award for being the #1 in his District and #2 in his Region for outstanding performance, sales, gross profit, client retention, and customer satisfaction. He has graced the stage at many of our industry’s trade shows and has taught students throughout the world like Brazil, Japan and Africa for companies like Dudley Products, Inc., New Concepts Hair Goods and Simplicity Hair Extensions. He’s also an author of his upcoming book called, “BO KNOWS HAIR”, due out in August 2008.
Bo believes that success comes from hard work and faith in your Higher Self , which is GOD. He quotes, “you can never become who you want to be, by remaining who you are.”
