Carla Harris
Stylist, event coordinator, make-up artist, entrepanuer. But out of all these God given talents, her true passion is hair design. Ms. Carla has been a stylist for over 15 yrs. She made her first debut as a professional stylist in April of 2005 in the Golden Scissor Awards, and walked away placing first and third in the Total Look Competition. She went on to compete in Washington DC in Nov. of 2005 at the Hairisma Hair competition and placed first in the most creative hair design division. Deciding to put Columbia on the map, Ms. Carla spearheaded an idea of her own to show case all salons thru out the metro area, this endeavor came to be Hairlistic 2005. The first of its kind in the state of SC to be directed and orchestrated by someone, who at this time had just completed cosmetology school. Having a keen business sense, Carla worked hard and diligently for 2 months to make her own dream a reality, and that reality was the creation of Ms. Carla’s Unique Hair Design, which opened Feb 2006. Though this was quite the accomplishment, Carla continued to compete in competitions and raise the bar even higher for herself. Only after being opened for 2 months, in April 2006, Carla received the distinguished award for small business of the year. Since this time, Carla has been featured in Vol 6,7 & 8 of Universal Salons hair magazines. 2 of Carla’s models from volume 6 were chosen by Universal Salons to go to Las Vegas in Oct 2006 to be a part of a professional photo spread for Vol 8 of their publication. During this trip, Carla competed with different stylist from across the US and took the award for Best Stage Presentation. One of Carla’s featured styles on the Universal Salons webpage received over 8000 hits, setting the record for most viewed hair style. Carla has now been given the honor of having one of her styles grace the cover of Vol 7 Universal Salons hair magazine Jan 2007. Jan 28, 2007 all 4 of Carla’s model were chosen from the Vol 9 photo shoot for Universal Salons to once again be part of a spread to be shot in Las Vegas in Oct 2007. Though hair design has been the platform for Carla’s life, her integrity does not stop at just being a stylist. Anything designed by the hand of Ms. Carla, is guaranteed to exude class, style & sophistication and the best is still yet to come!
