Bio Marcus Doss of Marcuss Doss Salon located in Fayetteville, NC is a hot 24 year old stylist that has been doing hair from the age of ten without lessons. “No one ever taught me”, he says, “It is all God given.” The most challenging aspect he has faced in the cosmetology industry is dealing with different attitudes and cultures. He has found his niche’ in hair show competitions and love the adrenaline rush he gets from performing in front of mass crowds. He loves showing them his magic that they have never seen before, what he is able to do on stage. He is a graduate of Fayetteville Beauty College and also took advance classes in Atlanta, GA. He continued to spread his wings in platform artistry and design classes with the up and coming product company Design Essentials. Marcus is also a platform artist for Bronner Brothers products. He has produced hair shows in Fayetteville and Greenville, NC. Marcus is moving towards owning several salons nationwide in multiple cities in the next five years. Marcus’s preference for tresses are weaving and styling, but his business is customer driven so he delivers a total package. His Dad encouraged him to do hair because of the styles he did on his mom’s hair when he was younger. He is the father of two beautiful daughters that keep him motivated. . Marcus says that the oldest daughter, who is four years old, is already doing twists and other styles on her baby doll's hair. Who knows maybe the two of them will have a father- daughter hair dynasty in the near future.
Advice Marcus gives to stylist world wide is “There is actually labor in building up clientele,” he says, “It does not come automatically and you must keep going and have dedication to your work.” He also adds that “Education is something that is a done deal and you have to get ready to get going, Get the job done [by] the quickest way possible.” Marcus leaves this to all of our readers and those currently in the industry, “You can never learn too much.” Marcus knows that when he learns something different he can find a better and more efficient way to do it. You can find Marcus’s artistic creations featured in publications such as Hype Hair Magazine, Sophisticate’s Black Hair Magazine, and our own Universal Salons Hair Style and Salon Guide.
