Bio
Pamela Webster, a twenty-two year veteran hair stylist, was motivated to give up her career in retail sales and enter the field of cosmetology because she "just loved doing hair" and wanted to own her own business.
She loves styling hair and likes being able to set her own hours. However, she found the business aspects and trying to educate clients about healthy hair quite a challenge and has returned to Bishop State, where she earned her certification, to sharpen her business skills. She is also taking courses to qualify to instruct cosmetology.
Pamela is self-motivated and encourages anyone interested in cosmetology to hang in there and follow your dream. "Even when you've got your certificate in hand and are following your dream you must continue to educate yourself ", she said "because you don't learn it all in one day or any school, so you must continue to educate yourself."
Although she is the only cosmetologist in her immediate family, her mother, sister and niece have always been encouraging and her cousins, who are also cosmetologists, are a constant source of inspiration. When she talks about teaching cosmetology in a high school and producing her own hair and make-up video in the next five years - her family replies, "Go for it!"
Ms. Webster considers the skiing trip she took last year and her other travels the fringe benefits of following her dream and never giving up.
She has been published in Hype Hair Magazine, Universal Salons Hair Style and Salon Guide, Sophisticate’s Black Hair Magazine and Dudley's Volume II Hair Book.
