Erma Stephens
Erma Stephens has always been good with her hands and especially interested in black hairstyles so it was only natural for her to choose cosmetology as a profession; allowing her the flexibility she needed to follow her military husband.
She was also inspired and encouraged by an aunt who was retiring after thirty years in the business as a stylist. Keeping family tradition of commitment to their profession, Erma now mentors her niece, Naomi Russell, a stylist and model appearing in several national Black Hair Magazines.
A graduate of Alamo Beauty College in San Antonio, Texas, Mrs Stephens is appalled at the way hair is abused; creating what she calls "sick hair" in some black hair salons. She focuses on keeping her clients' hair healthy and vibrant using her personal touches with the latest color and cuts.
Her loyal clientele include five ladies who have been with her since 1994 when she started. "They are like family, I call them my stars and treat them as royalty", she states " I really look after all of my clients, giving them the look that compliments their features and lifestyle". " I advise potential customers to visit hair salons before making an appointment, check out hair style photos and observe the styles as well as the stylist before entrusting your hair to anyone".
