Bio Deirdre (Dee) Clay graduated in February 1984 from Sir Walters Beauty Academy in Fayetteville NC. Believing that education is the key to advancement in her profession, Dee was recognized by the North Carolina State Beauticians and Cosmetologist Association as the “Top Educator of North Carolina,” in 2001.
As a component for continued education, she strives to accelerate her skills level by taking advance classes from schools such as Toni & Guy Hair Cutting Academy, Dudley Cosmetology University, Matrix Color Class, Paul Mitchell, and Pivot Point. Her studies have included classes in salon management, haircutting, color, hair addition, make up artistry, and platform artistry. On May 1, 1996 she received her Bachelor degree in Cosmetology from Dudley Cosmetology University.
Dee is a professional Cosmetologist with 25 years of experience in the field of Cosmetology and 12 years as an instructor. As a practicing stylist and makeup artist, Dee’s work has been featured in a number of Dudley Products haircut, color, and, styling DVD’s, as well as publications such as Salon Sense, Universal Salons Hair Styles, Sophisticate’s Black Hair Styles, Dudley’s Hair Images Volume 10, Hot Hair, Black Hair-Styles and Trends, Hype Hair, and Black HairCare. In November of 2006 her work in color was featured in the special multicultural color edition of the trade magazine Modern Salon called “Process”. In July of the following year Modern Salon published her article on “How to keep relaxed and color treated hair healthy” in their regular monthly edition. Along with her many accomplishments for the last 14 years she has been the owner of Wave Links Hair Studio Inc located in Fayetteville NC.
Known as a color specialist and for her makeup artistry, Dee had been a Dudley Product International Education since 1993, and is one of the developers of the Master Cutting Program taught at Dudley Cosmetology University in Kernsville, NC. During her time with Dudley she rose to the level of being one of the four members of the Artist Design Team. There she had been instrumental in providing opportunities of advance education to many cosmetologists throughout the United States and in other countries such as the Bahamas, Martinique, Guadalupe, Japan, Guam, Korea, the Hawaiian Islands, and most recently Australia. Dee also is currently working with Universal Salons Hair Styling book as one of their Makeup Artist and is proud to be on the National Educational Team from the up and coming Hair Care Company by the name of Influance.
Believing that “Each one must reach one and teach one” Dee maintains a level of professionalism that she hopes will be an example for upcoming and current cosmetologist.
